Villa Capozza, on the hill of Madonna della Campana, Casarano, Salento – Apulia 

Historical Villa, called CAPOZZA, of 2.300 covered square meters, that comprises manor house and two Dependances, situated on over 18.000 meters of Garden, on the hill in locality Madonna della Campana. The Villa dates back to the late eighteenth century and was built by the noble family De Donatis, as a country residence for holidays from March to October. The entire Villa is paved with Art Nouveau mosaics and original furnishings typical of the time. The restoration carried out in 2000, with great attention to detail, has allowed to recover the original mosaics, the architecture, the friezes and to return to the ancient splendor the superb Habsburg Tower.

The city of Casarano is located 98 kilometers from the airport of Salento, in Brindisi, and 47 kilometers from Lecce.

Casarano is a village with a baroque charm. Rich in history and art. After the fall of the Roman Empire, its territory first passed to the Byzantines, from the fifth to the eleventh century, then was at the mercy of the invasions of the Goths and Visigoths and other barbarian populations. To pass, then, under the Normans, in 1189, and the Swabians and Aragonese. This was a period in which the lords of the City of Casarano, contributed to the urban development of the Salento village.

The old town is well preserved, consisting of historic buildings and monuments dating back to the age of feudalism. In Piazza San Giovanni there is the obelisk of San Giovanni Elemosiniere, Patron of Casarano. Not far away, there is the Clock Tower, built in local carparo and dating back to the eighteenth century.

A small jewel of Casarano is the Church of Casaranello or Santa Maria della Croce, Byzantine era - high medieval. It is the first church in the city and is therefore a valuable testimony of early Christian church. Inside you can admire incredible frescoes and mosaics dating back to the fifth century AD.

Casarano is only 11 kilometers from the beautiful sandy beaches of Ugento, Lido Marini, Torre San Giovanni and Torre Mozza. And 20 kilometers from the popular tourist destination of Gallipoli, with its old town and the beautiful beaches of Rivabella, Baia Verde and Punta della Suina.
